Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
For me it was all about Jean-Michel Jarre and Oxygene, Vangelis's early albums (Spiral, Albedo 0.39. Heaven and Hell, Beaubourg, China etc) which were superb, Tangerine Dream and Edgar Froese.

Not forgetting Brian Eno and Rick Wakeman in his shiny cape.

Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
Of course not one song but it etipomises the genre. However it was the forerunner for the noughties and the likes of Guetta, Tiesto, Sanchez, Pridz and great Chill i.e. Cafe De la Mar, hed Kandi etc...can go on and on

Has to be 88/89 when the revolution fully exploded.
Thatcher's henchmen desperately trying to spoil our fun only served to fuel it.

Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
One song doesn't make an era. An era encompasses a range of artists and songs but can be identified by specific sonics. Are we saying early 90s euro house was your favourite era or that you happen to like one song?

I suppose I'm talking post disco.

Good shouts for the late 90's trance scene too, although I wouldnt listen to it now it was great at the time.

Also if you sample an acoustic loop is it electronic?

Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
In theory electronic music started in the late 40s early 50s and includes all of modern rock and roll and pop?
I think he's talking about synthetic, synths, computers and drum machines. But I'm not 100% sure.

Current era of deep house isnt bad at all. Lots of funky throwbacks to old school disco house around now too.

What a time to be alive.

Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
1988 to 1990 for me, the whole acid house thing, very happy days.

A reasonable shout for 1977 as a strongly influential year. Donna Summers 'I Feel Love' and Jean Michelle Jarre "Oxygene' can both be seen as forefathers of the electronic scene.

Early 80's, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Numan etc all good shouts.

Loved the trance and techno scene around 2000ish too, great choons indeed.

Re: Your favourite era in electronic music?
I used to love Paul Ferguson's tribal drums mixed with drum machine beats with Killing Joke when I was a kid and used to get home from school with the raving hump (fucking hated school from the day I started til the day it finished) and slammed the living fuck out of the drums in my shed until my hands bled.

Personally I like a lot of EDM now and love the rock stuff like Skrillex. The fizzy, angry stuff really reminds me of the spirit of Punk.
